PBIS

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social-emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and well-being. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable, and safe learning environments where everyone thrives.

How do we positively reinforce our expected behaviors?

At Chippewa Middle School, we've made learning fun with our digital points system through PBIS Rewards.  Students earn points from staff members for demonstrating the core values of being Safe, Respectful, and Ready to learn.

These points can be redeemed at our school store, where they can choose from a variety of exciting rewards, including school supplies, cool prizes, and more.

Students can use their points each quarter to enter an end-of-quarter raffle for bigger prizes, such as gift cards, headphones, movie tickets, and more.

pbis celebrations!

We also have a school-wide celebration at the end of each quarter. Students earn entry to the celebration by meeting the expectations of being Safe, Respectful, and Ready to Learn throughout the quarter.

These celebrations are school-wide activities like Field Day, Student vs. Staff Basketball, Family Feud, etc.

In a group activity, two wood boards are placed on the ground with students' shoes on them, as they attempt to walk together.

Even our staff can earn rewards!

Teachers gain points when they regularly reinforce positive behaviors with students.  There is a teacher's school store where staff can use their points to buy special prizes just for them.
