Welcome to Chip Camp!

A group of young people, some wearing Adidas and The Hangout branded clothing, are walking together in what appears to be a hallway or indoor setting.

More than 120 incoming Chippewa Middle School sixth graders had the opportunity to participate in Chip Camp on August 12.

The students spent the morning meeting the staff, reconnecting with old friends and meeting new classmates. When the students checked in that morning they received a map of the school.

In the cafeteria, they were welcomed by Principal Juliana Vissering and Assistant Principal Lorence Reid, as well as other CMS staff members.

Students were divided into groups in which they learned about the school's expectations, how to read their class schedules and what their advisory period and encore classes entailed.

The sixth graders also participated in team-building activities that allowed them to connect with their peers.

In the Library Media Center, staff members reviewed the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) expectations.

The students also participated in a scavenger hunt around the school to help familiarize themselves with the locations of different classrooms and offices.

One of the exciting exercises of the morning was practicing their combination locks in anticipation of the first day of school.

The students had a fantastic morning and left ready and excited to start the school year!
