Mosaic Mural Masterpiece Nearing Completion!

Chippewa Middle School students in the Mural Mosaic Club are excited to announce that their masterpiece, which has been three years in the making, is nearing completion!

There are just a few empty spaces left on the mosaic and the students were working hard to find the perfect pieces to fill in the spots to complete the piece.

In addition to adding tiles, one student was painting a canvas that said "Created and Designed by the Classes of 24-28."

The Mural Mosaic Club, under the direction of Ms. Carli Kanter and Ms. Erin Shanahan, began with the class of 2023-2024.

The mural features a slogan that says "all words kind words" because it was an initiative started at Chippewa by Reading Interventionist Ms. Amber Brookhart.

It features a 9 foot long by 5 foot tall frame made out of 2x4s and cement board which has been constructed in three panels due to the large size and weight.

In addition to having students work on the mural after school each week, over the years staff have been invited to come and join the fun.

There has also been a station at Chippewa's STEAM night the past two years and the community has even had a chance to participate in the project.

The students are getting so close to finishing it and are excited to see the final piece once it's done at the end of this year!
