Soaring to New Heights in Drone Soccer Club

Soaring to New Heights in Drone Soccer Club
Chippewa

Chippewa Middle School, along with Algonquin Middle School and Iroquois Community School, received a generous grant from Rivers Casino to start a Drone Soccer Club.

As it is the first year of the club, both the teachers and the students are learning what drone soccer is and how to build and perfect their own drones.

The Chippewa Drone Soccer Club meets on Tuesdays after school and is open to all grade levels.

Students are working in pairs to assemble their own drones from a kit.

The students had to mount four small motors to the blades of the drone, making sure they work together to enable the drone to fly properly.

The students used an instructional card that came with the drone to help them figure out what screws needed to go where.

While the students worked on mounting the motors, the teachers programmed one of the assembled drones to enable it to connect to the remote control.

The students are looking forward to flying their drones and competing against their fellow district middle schools next year!
