Dry and Wet Mount Microscope Slides

Chippewa Middle School seventh graders in Ms. Caitlyn Hatta's science class learned how to make dry and wet mount microscope slides.

The students first learned the art of making dry mount slides.

After watching a video on the subject, Ms. Hatta demonstrated making a dry mount slide.

The students then had the chance to partner up and make their own slides. Then is was time for a pop quiz.

Half of the students had to go to one side of the room while their partner demonstrated how to create a dry mount slide.

They raised their hands when they were done and Ms. Hatta gave them feedback and let them know if they passed the quiz.

Then it was time to move on to wet mount slides.

Once again, the students watched a video on the process of making a wet mount slide, then Ms. Hatta demonstrated making one and the students practiced with their partner.

They had another quiz in which they had to make a wet mount slide on their own.

All of the students passed with flying colors and are looking forward to studying the slides under the microscopes.
