The Chip Action News Club delivers news and information to the students and staff at Chippewa Middle School every Wednesday and Friday morning during advisory.

The club, open to Chippewa students in all grade levels, is under the direction of Music and Drama Teacher Mr. Chris Hylton and Math Teacher Ms. Jennifer Mandl and meets on Tuesdays after school.

Each week the students take turns filming the segments, writing, editing and acting as the on air talent.

The broadcast includes such information as the lunch menu, exciting events happening at Chippewa that week and important club reminders.

On this particular day, since it was April Fools Day, the students wanted to have some fun and pretended that some of the sixth graders delivering the newscast were their older siblings.

The group also filmed part of a skit for a segment later in the week.

To round out their broadcast, the students filmed an investigative story about the "bouncy spots" in the Chippewa Middle School floor.

They discovered that the "bouncy spots" were actually small maintenance doors used to access different mechanisms in the floors.

When they were done filming, the students reviewed their footage with Mr. Hylton and collaborated on how they wanted to edit the story together.

The Chip Action News students are not only learning what skills it takes to put on a broadcast, but they are having a lot of fun in the process!
