Creativity in Coding Class
Chippewa Middle School sixth graders in Ms. Koepke's class recently had fun with computer coding.
Ms. Koepke started the class with a word exercise.
Students had to find four different words within a smiley face and then they talked to each each other about the words they found.
Then the students then were given a coding choice board and were able to choose which coding program they wanted to use for their coding project.
Program options included Code.org, Scratch, Pencil Code, Javascript Coding, HTML Coding and Python Coding.
The students tried out multiple coding programs, found the one they liked the most and then started on their projects.
For the newcomer students in the class, some of the apps even provided a translation feature.
The students were very creative in their coding!
Some of them built and coded Minecraft levels, while others created animated games complete with different objects and a scoreboard.
